Inside the Tyger's Cage...

Ponder on this: Do you think it's wrong to ask for a break from your friends? What if some of or even all of your friends cause you to feel some kind of way. Do you think it's in your best interest to request separation for a specified amount of time?

I recently requested a few of my friends to grant me a separation. Why? Well, I found that these friends brought out a negative side in me. In no way, shape or form did they intend to do this, however, their constant need for attention and "girl talks" annoyed me to no control. It got to the point that when their numbers would display on my caller ID, I'd cringe. Or if I saw an email come into my inbox, I'd close out of the application. I love my friends. Indeed I do but during my hiatus from them I've come to realize that they are contributing to something brewing in me that is not happy. I hate drama and negative energy and this separation has given me a peace of mind that I was missing. The end date of my hiatus is fasting approaching and I'm not looking forward to picking up where things left off. Harsh, I know but oh so true. I am who I am.

What I've learned from this is that friends can still love each other and value what was shared but grow apart. Life's circumstances changes us. You don't have to declare an end, you just pull away gracefully. Check in's from time to time are good and keep some form of communication going but to keep on in something you know makes you feel a certain way is not healthy for either party. Don't get mad a friend that gracefully pulls away. Instead, acknowledge the distance. Talk about it and come to an agreement. You may loose out of having that person apart of your every moment but it's better to have them in some moments than none at all.

I say all this to say, people come and they go. It's how they "go" that matters. Don't create unnecessary enemies. If you grow apart from someone, no matter what the reason is, stay classy with it. You never know who you will need in the further.
